Mournstead is an All-Wizarding Village inhabited solely by wizards, witches, and other magical beings, and is nestled deep within the canyon West of Ilvermony. Third years and above will be permitted weekend trips to the village to shop and mingle with friends unsupervised as long as they have a signed permission slip from a parent or guardian.
The village is both flamboyant and eclectic in design — medieval details, ornamented tile, turrets, towers, oriel windows. The initial inspiration came from England but developed into something uniquely American. It includes row houses, with not a single one alike, and commercial buildings. The surface of the buildings is a collage of materials with an emphasis on beauty and ornamentation. Stained glass windows in myriad patterns and colors, terra-cotta ornamentation of every type, from floral and geometric running bands of pattern, to fantastical faces, animals, and mythical creatures. The results of these elements are buildings of great imagination and beauty.
Residents & Shopkeepers
Minjae Ahn
A youthful adult with No-Maj origins, he and his lover, Taemin, run PABOBA, a bubble tea shop. Tousled jet black hair often dyed a seafoam green complements his jet black eyes. Minjae often attires himself in monochromatic neutrals that are simple, comfortable, and easy to move in. He has a warm complexion, slender fingers, and shapely shoulders. His limbs are lean, akin to a dancer, appearing exquisitely graceful when in motion. Friendly and welcoming, he is more than happy to serve any customer.
Katarina Ariel
Kneazle enthusiast and Managing Deputy Director of Aufroúra Wizarding Bank, Katarina Ariel is arguably the resident kneazle lady, even if her kneazles have been interbred with domestic cats the last few generations. She is thought to be on bad terms with Cederic Lycurgus due to the aggression of his crups toward her kneazles.
Though she looks very stern, eyebrows often arched at those that pass her, she is generally an amicable person that allows people to pet and play with her kneazles— they are her pride and joy, after all, her precious babies. Despite her reputation, she is an attractive woman, looking to be in her mid-30’s, though her age is unknown.
Emery Baker
An individual in his late 20s, Emery is a stout character with arms made strong from kneading dough and butchering meat. They'd come to town often during their days at Ilvermorny, and missing the burgers from home, brought recipes and knowledge with them to Mournstead. While they stand at only 5'5", they are no pushover, even if the dark circles beneath their eyes indicate they're perpetually tired.
Emery's mostly seen in The Burger Club's kitchen and sometimes the floor. They can be found getting feedback from customers and checking in on those who wish to try making their own burgers. Be warned, mistreatment of food is not welcomed! When they aren't at work, it's to Tap & Nap or Darling Reads they go.
